Adventure in Arizona Pt. 2

So I left San Diego a couple days ago with the hopes of reaching Yuma, sleeping there and shaving a few hours of my trip for the next day. Trip commenced at 10:00 at night. On they way I stopped and visited an old friend, (several hours) and left around 11:45. The next thing I know I’m surrounded by the thickest densest fog I have ever seen in my entire life, and I have to wonder is the weather ever normal? Yes it actually is because I made that trip five times and three times it was perfect. I get to ocotillo about 27 miles from El Centro when disaster strikes and I get a flat tire. I step out of the car and notice the wind is going crazy. Wind strong enough to sting the skin. I take a look at the tire and sigh before dialing triple AAA. I give them my information and decide to wait. An hour later I call them (now around 1:00) and they say they can’t find me. Neither can highway patrol and I should keep still. So I break out my handy dandy jack and tire iron and jack up the car to change the tire myself. The wind shifts the jack and ends up bending the chasis of my car. Rather then kick the snot out of my car (which believe me I wanted to do) I decided best way to fix the problem is to walk to the town behind me. so I end up using my cell phone as a light to cross this giant ravine in the center of the road watching for snakes and proceed to walk back to the town. I make it about 2 miles when I reach a call box. I try to call but the wind is too strong and nothing can be heard. So I end up walking all the way back to ocotillo (about 3 miles) When I get there the triple A guy finds me, he was going the wrong way. So I get a ride back to my car (another three miles ) and he fixes the tire, but lets me know that the tire is only good for 50 miles and speeds under 60 mph and I have another 67 to go to Yuma. So I drive at 50 miles an hour to El Centro and roll into a Ramada Inn (3:00 AM). I check into a room, but realize I have to be out early because if I’m not back at Yuma by  noon they charge me for an extra day (119$). So I sleep wake up at 9:00 drive to a goodyear, change all four tires on my car (the tire that went flat had a hole I could fit my fist in) and drive to Yuma. The fun and excitement never stops in the life of Russell Emmons Office Automation Clerk
